No topic is currently causing more of a stir in education than artificial intelligence, which raises countless questions. At the March 2024 conference, the Swiss Distance-Learning University of Applied Sciences will examine the phenomenon in detail. Join us to get to the bottom of the application of AI in education based on the four focus topics of influence of AI, distrust/mistrust, scaling and success forecasts. A first excerpt from the conference programme promises exciting insights:

  • AI in the university context: beginnings and future scenarios

Prof Dr Nils Pinkwart from the Humboldt University of Berlin will outline the development of AI from its beginnings to the current quantum leaps, highlighting the potential in the higher education sector. The application of AI in teaching, studies, administration and the impact on the start-up scene will be critically analysed.

  • Experiences of trust in AI from the primary level

An input on the topic of trust/mistrust focusses on the compulsory education level. Werner Odermatt, primary school teacher at Lucerne City Primary School, demonstrates how pupils in a sixth grade class learn how to use AI in a reflective way using ChatGPT and are aware of both the risks and opportunities.

  • Scaling and potential for success for teachers with “Brian”

In the panel discussion, we will examine, among other things, whether teachers, AI start-ups and AI investors pursue similar goals and how the diversity of these players enables successful collaboration. Dan Vyleta from the startup “Brian Educational App” is an award-winning writer and lecturer at the University of Birmingham and will share his views on this topic.

The March conference offers you up-to-date expertise from renowned speakers as well as inspiration for your teaching and allows you to contribute your opinion and thus influence the use of AI in the Swiss educational world.
